PIT Group Opens U.S. Offices
Engineering and research group announces U.S. membership program, new technologies and road-based fuel-efficiency testing
Montréal, QC/PHILADELPHIA – October 19, 2015 – PIT Group, an engineering and research group for the North American trucking industry, announced at the 2015 ATA Management Conference & Exhibition the opening of a U.S. office and a significant increase in its presence in the United States.
“PIT Group has become the benchmark for precise, verified and unbiased data on the return on investment that fleets can expect from green technologies in Canada,” said Yves Provencher, director of PIT Group. “With the continual need to improve competitiveness and the increase in environmental compliance restrictions, the demand for green technologies has never been stronger. Our U.S. office will enable us to offer the level of service and experience we’ve been providing Canadian fleets and that U.S. fleets expect.”
PIT Group is opening an office in Atlanta, Georgia and is adding the U.S. as a location for road testing of its popular technology certification process known as Energotest. Using stringent SAE/TMC protocols, PIT Group will now hold two Energotest events in Canada and two in the U.S. each year.
In addition, PIT Group is bringing on the services of Mike Fielden, a transportation logistics executive with over 35 years of industry experience to lead its U.S. operation.
“PIT Group has had great success in Canada over the past seven years and I’m excited to be working with the team to bring that same success to U.S. fleets,” said Fielden, who will be leading the U.S. rollout for PIT Group. “Just look at us as the Consumer Reports of trucking!”
PIT Group members:
- gain the knowledge of engineers dedicated solely to providing the trucking industry with accurate unbiased test results on fuel-saving technologies
- network on technology issues with like-minded colleagues
- have access to results of tests conducted for other PIT Group members
PIT Group consists of engineers, technicians, eco-driving trainers and fleet management specialists that can guide fleets in selecting the product that is best suited to their needs. Membership fees are $46 (USD) per power unit for the first 500 units; $28 (USD) for each of the next 500 units, and $9.50 (USD) for each of the remaining units, with a minimum fee of $5,000 (USD) annually.
“Large and small carriers alike benefit tremendously from PIT Group membership,” explained Provencher. “Larger carriers view us as a seamless extension to their engineering teams whereas smaller carriers consider us their entire engineering department. The bottom line is that we have no agenda other than to certify and implement the best and most fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies in North America.”
PIT Group works in cooperation with the U.S. SmartWay Transport Partnership, Natural Resources Canada, and Environment Canada, which selected PIT as the benchmark facility for testing green transportation technologies. PIT Group is affiliated with the American Trucking Associations, the Technology & Maintenance Council, and the Truckload Carriers Association.
